The HOKA ONE ONE Carbon X-SPE for men and women are neutral competition running shoes. The Carbon X-SPE is a special edition of HOKA's very successful Carbon X model. The X-SPE has a more technical upper than the normal Carbon X shoe. The X-SPE's upper is made of a single layer of Polyester Mesh material. This makes the upper very light in weight, a bit stiff and semi-transparant. It is highly breathable and provides comfortable support to the feet when running fast tempos. The tongue of the shoe is integrated with the upper, a feature that isn't found in the regular Carbon X. The integrated tongue prevents it from sliding down into the shoe and also provides a bootie-construction. This means that the upper is made of one single part.
The Carbon Fibre plate over the full length of the shoes works closely together with the Meta-Rocker geometry to provide you with a fast and explosive feel when running. It is almost as if you're being propelled forwards. When running slowly the carbon plate is very rigid, but when speeding up the plate pushes the feet forward by returning a lot of energy to them.
The wider PROFLY X midsole provides a lot of stability and support. A layer of CM Betty Fly Foam has been added on top of the Carbon Fibre plate to provide comfortable cushioning. A layer of Injected EVA material has been added underneath the carbon fibre plate. This material returns energy and adds some durability to the shoes, because of which you will be able to go on for longer. These lightweight competition shoes are ideal for running fast tempos on long distances.
